A vehicle's exhaust system may not seem like a complicated aspect of your car, but like most other systems it can become damaged or simply fail over time. It consists of more than just the tailpipe, as it starts with the exhaust manifold, and includes a catalytic converter to reduce emissions and a muffler to manage the level of noise the vehicle produces. What is the Exhaust System?

Essentially, exhaust fumes and gases are pollutions, they are the result of gas and oxygen burning in the engine. Such fumes are soot-filled smog. As such, anything which touches the exhaust before it is filtered becomes dirty, and therefore the parts of the exhaust system can become clogged. If the system is clogged, it will prevent the vehicle from running as intended, or in the worst-case scenario might prevent the car from running at all. The vehicle can also become uncomfortably loud if the muffler is damaged, both for the driver and passengers in the car's cabin and the other drivers on the road.
