Local Spotlight: Wells for the World
We all know that water is essential for life on Earth. In fact, the vast majority of us and our surroundings are made up of the stuff! This urgent need was the call to action for Wells for the World, an organization that is actively fighting water scarcity, a life-threatening phenomenon that affects 2.8 billion people around the globe. See what they’re doing to bring stability to those in need below!
What Wells for the World is All About
As a non-profit NGO charity, Wells for the World strives to help those in marginalized communities gain health and economic soundness through safe and sustainable water access. They know that clean water for drinking, eating, bathing, and more makes the world go ‘round, and they believe everyone has a right to it.
This charity was founded by Clifford Yantz, a seasoned hydrogeologist with his heart in the right place. He’s using his 26 years of experience and the funds obtained by donation to the charity to create scientifically backed water projects to slowly but surely eliminate water scarcity around the world.
As the name implies, many of these projects involve the installation of drinking water wells in developing nations around the world, such as Kenya. Yantz and his dedicated team plan to change the world–one well at a time.
Many Different Projects, One Core Mission
Since their foundation, Wells for the World has undertaken an array of projects. On the surface, these projects are about installing an apparatus for clean water access. At the same time, though, they’re about empowerment. Empowerment for this organization is about providing communities the tools and resources they need to thrive, including water.
Many of their projects have taken place on the continent of Africa, but they also have projects in the United States, including in Flint, Michigan. However, their vision for the future states that their mission will extend to every corner of the country until everyone can exercise their right to clean water.
